Three troubling
studies by the Greater Cleveland Voter
Coalition
Exit interviews with 1553 voters at 49 polling places during
the problem-plagued primary; non-partisan observer reaction to poll working
training methods, and a report to the Cuyahoga Election Review Committee, all
paint a discouraging picture as election officials scramble to prepare for next
week’s special election and the general election in November.

Voter Coalition Chief Researcher Norman Robbins hinted at what was contained in his Op Ed article Friday, July 28th in The Plain Dealer on page B9 titled "Voting wrongs. Poor face highest hurdles to register, stay on the rolls and vote."
Executive board member Judy
Gallo says members of the Voter Coalition observed four
separate training sessions before the May 2nd Primary. All poll workers were required to attend a
three-hour training session to learn how to set up the new electronic voting
machines, assist voters, make sure ballots were secure, transmit the data
accurately and close down the machines at the end of the voting day. For poll workers, this was a major challenge.
