Voting Resources
In order to help everyone get more involved in elections — and make their votes count — we offer these links to sites that have information about voting, voting rights and upcoming elections.
In order to provide these links useful, we have separated them into categories. Clicking on a link will open another window that will take you to another site. The information provided on these sites—or any links on those sites—does not reflect the positions of the Greater Cleveland Voter Registration Coalition.
Official Sites
This section links to the organizations that manage local, statewide and national elections. Their sites contain legal information about elections and voting only. The information on these sites is non-partisan and should be considered definitive. (Note: some sites might provide links to political parties or issue organizations.)
Federal Elections Commission
The FEC is an independent agency responsible for monitoring laws related to Presidential, Senatorial and Congressional elections. Their web site is the reference guide for information
about voting, election dates, campaign contributions and election results.
Ohio Secretary of State
The Secretary of State is the elected official responsible for all elections held in Ohio. The Secretary of State's web site provides
valuable information about how and where to register to vote, running for office and Ohio's campaign
finance laws.
Cuyahoga County Board of Elections
The Board of Elections manages the voting process within our county. Their web site
has comprehensive information about election schedules and voter registration—and live results on election day!
Non-Profit, Non-Partisan Sites
This section links to sites run by groups who have nonprofit status, do not endorse candidates and state their goal as either (a) increasing participation in local, state or national elections or (b) providing non-partisan information about the candidates in an election. Some organizations offer information about the candidates' views and positions on issues (which is provided by the candidates). Some also provide links to information from partisan or issue-oriented sites.
League Of Women Voters
The League provides information about voter registration, election schedules and the candidates positions on issues. They offer a national, an Ohio
and a Cuyahoga County web site, plus several sites maintained by city or regional chapters.

Project Vote
Project Vote's goal is to increase participation in elections. Since 1982, they have registered and turned out to vote over 3 million new voters. Their web site
contains information about registration and how you can participate in
elections.
Project Vote Smart
This organization provides background and contact information about elected officials and candidates, as well as voting records, positions on
issues and ratings from special interest groups. Their web site also has many links to political
parties and issue groups.
Ohio Free The Vote Coalition
People convicted of a felony can vote in Ohio as long as they are not currently in prison. The web site of the coalition dedicates itself to ensuring that formerly-incarcerated people are
aware of their legal rights.
Issue Organizations
Issue organizations are groups that do not have non-profit status and who endorse candidates or take positions in elections. The descriptions of the organizations is taken from the "About Us" pages on their sites.
Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration
PRFAA works to advance the well-being of Puerto Ricans everywhere by improving economic, educational, and social opportunity for all. Their web
site has information about voting in both English and Spanish.
NAACP
The NAACP's Voter Empowerment Project is designed to empower the African American community
by increasing awareness and participation in the full political process in local, state, and federal elections.
AFL-CIO Federation of Labor
The AFL-CIO includes more than 13 million of America's
workers in 61 member unions working in virtually every industry. Their People-Powered Politics
site has information about how to play a more effective role in elections.
Americans Coming Together
ACT is a "voter mobilization project" whose site says their goal is to "lay the
groundwork for Democratic victories in the 17 states that will determine America's future in the 2004 election."
For Profit Sites
These sites are maintained by commercial organizations, who might or might not take political positions or make endorsements on candidates.
The Microsoft Network
MSN has a detailed guide to the 2004 presidential election, with news, analysis and data about the candidates views.
